I like how conservatives get to pick and choose what reproductive issues are “the woman’s problem.”

Like, you aren’t allowed to make a decision whether or not to birth a baby with no brain who could suffer immense pain for his short life.

But it’s your problem to deal with the emotional heart wrenching experience of watching your child endure life-ending pain when it didn’t need to be that way. Thats your “problem” so deal with it. Oh, and cover the very real monetary costs of doing do, while you’re at it.

Abstinence-only education is now illegal in Illinois. A bill passed two days ago by the state senate will require that schools with sex education classes include units on birth control. Schools can opt out of sex education altogether if they so desire (as they can now), and they’ll still have to teach that abstinence is the only absolute, surefire way to prevent pregnancy and STIs, but now they’ll have to provide information on contraceptives as well. The governor is expected to sign the bill. source

Raw Story: Police in Philadelphia are hoping that video of a man shooting up a strip club with an AK-47 assault rifle over a DJ’s song selection will lead to his arrest.

Investigators on Wednesday said that 21-year-old Henry Pettigrew was being sought for the May 11th shooting at Purple Orchid Gentleman’s Club.

Police said that bouncers at the club tried to remove him after he became angry because the DJ would not play his favorite song.

Pettigrew and an accomplice then assaulted a customer, who they mistook for one of the bouncers. When the customer ran to the parking lot and tried to flee in his SUV, Pettigrew grabbed an AK-47 and began firing at the vehicle. The customer was hit above his right hip and was expect to recover.

Pettigrew was so hammered that he couldn’t stand up as he tried to return to the club. He was firing “wildly, obviously with an AK-47 with a banana clip, it can fire multiple rounds at a high rate of speed very quickly,” Philadelphia Police Department spokesperson Lt. Johnny Walker said.

A drunk in a strip club shooting innocent bystanders with a weapon capable of firing a lot of bullets in a real big hurry — because a DJ refused to take a request. Totally what the founders had in mind when they wrote the Second Amendment, right? Pettigrew is still at large and obviously willing to start shooting for the stupidest goddam reasons imaginable.

Remember, it’s the tremendous saturation of guns in America that keeps us all so safe!

Thought you couldn’t hate Obama any more than you already do? This is absolutely absurd. Just the mere fact that he would ask (order) a Marine to do this shows he has no concept of respect. Title ten of the Armed Forces US Code says that members of the military do what is asked of them by their Commander in Chief. The man next to them is the Prime Minister of Hungary. It would be bad show to let the rain fall on the head of a visiting diplomat, and any Marine on Presidential duty is honored to be there. This is not about the umbrellas, it is about treating visiting dignitaries with honor and respect. To only have an umbrella over the head of Prime Minister Orban would be a sign of superiority or strength over the visiting PM. The president did the correct thing in the situation by showing enough respect for his fellow leader and giving them both an equal platform.

Y’all need to stop freaking the fuck out over stupid shit like umbrellas.

Speaking as the son of a former Army officer, OP’s post is even more disrespectful towards the Marine in the photo - and the US military in general - than it is towards the President. It shows that literally the only part of being in the military OP has respect for is the part that involves killing others and that is not the biggest part of the military by a long shot and is not the part of military service most members joined for. People join the military to serve the nation, and part of that is stuff like this. There is a reason active duty military do not and are not supposed to discuss their opinions of a President during that President’s term. The President is the Commander in Chief regardless of who they actually are. Republican, Democrat, third party, no longer existent party: it does not matter. Being art of the White House guard and the Presidential detail, especially when a foreign dignitary or leader is present, is one of the biggest honors in the military.

But it’s a fucking umbrella, so complaining about it in the first place is massively moronic.

I’ve been wanting to make homemade granola bars for a long time. It’s nice to know exactly what’s in your food, especially with something that you eat for energy and a healthy snack.

I’ve been intimidated up to this point by the large amount of ingredients people put in them. I just wanted a basic granola bar: simple to make and inexpensive.

If you want to make them…

What you’ll need:

1 1/2 cups of rolled oats

1 cup chopped almonds (or other nuts)

1 cup dried cranberries (or other dried fruit)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup honey

What you’ll need to do:

Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients. Spread into a well-greased pan. Bake for 10-20 minutes, depending on your crunch preference (the longer it cooks, the crunchier it gets). Let the granola cool before you cut it, or it will fall apart.

Just made these, and they are AWESOMEEEEE! Small note- if you are using raw honey make sure you heat it up first like 20/30 seconds so that you can pour it over your dry ingredients. And I also didn’t grease my pan I lined it with aluminum foil so I just lifted them out to cool then cut.
