So according to the latest bullshittery about the Steubenville rapists the boy apparently doesn’t deserve to be registered as a sex offender because his “brain isn’t fully developed” and the attorney is saying “I don’t believe that a person at 75 years old should have to explain for something they did at 16” and people support this fucked up idea yet simultaneously still blame the victim who, despite also being 16, they believe should “be responsible” for what happened to her.

Not being registered as a sex offender places any women near this rapist in the future in immediate danger, but here we have just another prime example of society caring more about protecting the rapist’s future than protecting women from him.

I JUST CANT…

Great. So all you have to do to get “consent” is drug someone into silence like these men did. This may be the most disgusting defense I have ever heard.

Seriously, that’s their defense. She couldn’t say “no,” on account of SHE WAS UNCONSCIOUS, so since she didn’t technically NOT consent she consented by default. They’re saying that everyone’s natural state is consenting to sex with anyone who wants it.

To Celebrate Black History Month, Anti-Abortion Group Buys Offensive Billboard in Soho

The anti-abortion group Life Always just unveiled a giant billboard on the corner of Watts Street and Sixth Avenue that features a photo of a black girl and the caption, “The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb.” Part of a national campaign, the billboard is about a half-mile from a Planned Parenthood facility on Bleecker Street. “During Black History Month, we celebrate our history, but our future is in jeopardy as a genocidal plot is carried out through abortion,” says Life Always Board Member Pastor Stephen Broden. Others, like City Council Member Letitia James, find the message a tad offensive.

Georgia Legislator Wants To Investigate Miscarriages, Create Uterus Police

First the attack on Planned Parenthood funding and now this: State Rep. Bobby Franklin of Georgia introduced a bill in his state last week that, if enacted, would require proof that a miscarriage occurred naturally. If a woman can’t prove that her miscarriage–or spontaneous abortion–occurred without intervention, she could face felony charges.

From the Daily Kos, “Franklin wants to create a Uterus Police to investigate miscarriages, and requires that any time a miscarriage occurs, whether in a hospital or without medical assistance, it must be reported and a fetal death certificate issued. If the cause of death is unknown, it must be investigated. If the woman can’t tell how it happened, then those Uterus Police can ask family members and friends how it happened. Hospitals are required to keep records of anyone who has a spontaneous abortion and report it.”

The bill is mostly aimed to make sure that any attempt to remove an embryo or fetus from a mother must be with the goal of a live birth. Ectopic pregnancy– which can be fatal to mother and fetus– is no exception. Maternal bleeding, cancer… no exceptions.
